Origin of Temple
Bada Ganesh Ji temple is situated at Bank of River Tamsha in District Azamgarh of Uttar Pradesh.
The Bada Ganesh Ji of Azamgarh is also called as Moonga Ganesh. The temple is famous for the Kundli Dosh Nivaran and hence it’s also called as Kundli Nivarak Ganesh. The devotees come to the temple to get there all problems resolved by just having a look of Lord Ganesh idol.
The Bada Ganesh Ji temple is also famous for fulfilling the wishes of its devotee. Particularly the childless married couples get their wish for child full filled by just paying a visit to the temple.
The idol of Lord Ganesh is Swaymbhu.
Maharishi Valmiki acquired the Divya Netra at the bank of River Tamsha and wrote Ramayan.
The origin of temple traces back to the era of Lord Rama as mentioned in Valmiki Ramayan, where there is clear instance in Balkhande Divtiya Surg being mentioned where Lord Rama has performed pooja on the banks of River Tamsha.
Tulsi Dash ji has also mentioned in Ramcharith Manas that Lord Rama has rested at the bank of River Tamsha on the very first night of his Vanvash. And Lord Rama performed pooja of Lord Ganesh.
One of the prominent Saints of India Guru Nank Dev Ji’s son Udassin Samprdaya ke Pravartak Bhagawan Shiv ke Avatar Jagat Guru Shrichand Maharaj has also performed pooja and tapashya here. He is also being worshipped here.
Important Events
Every year on “Magh Ki Chaoth” & “Bhado Ki Chaoth” thousands of devotees throng the temple for the Darshan of Lord Ganesh.
On every Wednesday Special Arthi and Bhandara is also organized.

As the temple is very old and the structure was weak. Especially the roof of temple was very fragile and it may have come down any time. The temple has area of around four Bhighas.
With the help of some devotees the reconstruction of the temple has been started and so as the idol of Lord Ganesh could be preserved.
